Raku Taster – 11th July 2026

Another sunny day in Wales and a new group of students wanting to learn about the Raku process. Today was the day for some fabulous naked raku results and lots of the students requested shiney copper pots. This is achieved using a commercial glaze called Starry Night. If we take the pots out of the kiln at about 950c and not 750c and if we put them very quickly into the combustion chamber, we get this lovely result.

A big welcome to Olly, a fellow potter from a nearby village who wanted to try Raku for the first time. He is planning to come back in September to do attend the kiln building course.
