Having now relocated to our new studio just outside St Clears, we were ready to test the new facilities and a big thanks to Jaclyn and Jan (Fellow South Wales Potters members) who wanted to come and have a play. Jaclyn had never done Raku firing on her wonderful seals she makes, so she bought along a few to fire. They all survived the firing process, and we had some wonderful results. Needless to say, she wants to come back and do some more. Jan who you might recognise from the 2024 Great Pottery Thrown Down, had done some Raku on the programme but wanted to learn more. We had some great results and Jan is now thinking of getting her own Raku kiln for making some stunning turtles.
On the whole things went smoothly with the glazing / preparation area and the sheltered outdoor firing area was spot on. We were all so happy we forgot to get Jan and Jacklyn to sign the visitors book, so they will have to come back.
Happy with the tester Workshop, we are now open for Raku Taster Sessions and Workshops.
