Today saw a new group of pottery virgins. 7 new students and only one had any pottery experience. The great thing about our Raku Taster experience, is that you don’t need to have any prior knowledge or pottery experience and you don’t even have to be creative. This is a fun day for all levels and full tuition and guidance is on hand.
It was a day of brighter colours, and we saw some stunning use of pink, reds, and blues. Our standard transparent glaze came out tops with some stunning crackle and as we always say to our students – keeping it simple is often best. Most the students did the horse hair / feather / sugar / fleece technique, and we had some wonderful creations.
All the pots were fired in 3 firings and the students learnt how to get a great shine on the naked raku pots. It does help having a well burnished pot to start with – thanks Karen 😊
