Have you made pots before or done some handbuilding, but never had the chance to try raku firing?
Our workshops are ideal for those who already do pottery at home or under a pottery teacher. Make you own pots using slip casting, hand building or wheel thrown and bring them along to learn how to Raku fire them. If you don’t have the facility to make your own creations, spend a day with Adrian or Karen doing a pottery experience using Raku clay and then join a workshop with your own pots which we would have bisque fired for you.
For students bringing their own creations we will advise on the clay to use, the ideal shapes and sizes for Raku and the art of burnishing. The cost of our general workshops are £120 per person and you can bring up to 8 items (or a couple more if they are small) for glazing and firing.
NEW WORKSHOP FOR 2026 - "Create & Fire"
Here you join us first for a making session using hand building techniques, slab work and slip casting. This is followed later by a firing session.
"Create & Fire" can either be 2 half day sessions or 2 full day sessions. This workshop lends itself to a group party / team event / family get togther.

On the day
When you arrive, we’ll start with a safety briefing and an explanation of how we create the finishes on our pots. We give you a detailed manual of raku decorating and firing techniques, which you can make notes in as you go along. We provide all the materials and glazes for you to decorate your pots as well as the equipment to fire them safely. We’ll take you through the whole process step-by-step in a small group with plenty of time for 1-1 tuition. You’ll take part in an unforgettable experience, learn a new technique and have your own beautiful pots to take home with you at the end of the day.
2026 Updates
We are looking forward to opening again in March 2026 when the weather is a little kinder. The tried and tested outdoor Raku firing area at least keeps us dry.
