Another fabulous new group of students all arrived on time (well almost hey Maria & Alan 😊) and ready to start their Raku Experience. Today marked our furthest away students with a couple who came down from Whitley Bay near Newcastle. A mere 6,5-hour drive, so we had to pull out all the stops.
Maria a returning RakuManiac bought along her own creations for firing, so we had a Welsh miner and a couple of sheep to do!! The rest of the students were all new to Raku but after the talk and demonstration chose two pots from the bookshelf and a couple of them purchased a third pot for a nominal fee. It was a day for naked raku and the horse hair / feather technique. We also has some good use of coloured underglaze under our transparent glaze.
It was a great day and everyone learnt how to finish off their pots with polish and sealer.
